News From The Author

Hello! I haven't added here any new posts for over two years now, but I see you still read my story, and that's absolutely insane! Thank you! I'm writing this post to give you some news that you maybe don't know about. Well, I have published two books since I stopped publishing here - Once Upon a Time There Were Two Poetry Books... & Laura's Diary - My Awesome Life . And I got a new blog now. It's called Get Inspired ,   and it's about my own cultural news. I also have a store with signed copies of my books, and there is a very nice merch that you can buy cheaper thanks to The Christmas Sale now. You can consider buying anything from me until midnight 27th December CET if you wanna save money and maybe buy presents. Oh, and I have a podcast where I talk about poetry and music. I mean it's an audiobook and commentary kind of thing where I talk about the meaning and inspiration that made me write certain works. It's called Romantic Wednesdays With...

Note No. 16. Philosophers, Magnetism and Threats

Surprise post dedicated to my lover and best friend who inspired me yesterday. You are the best, babe! <3 13 th July 1819   Philosopher sent us a calling card with acceptance of coming to our meeting in two days yesterday and today he decided to visit us in person. With previous announcement obviously. Otherwise it would be unacceptable to behave like that. I am glad because I really wanted to meet him. The interesting human, not too old, remarkably busy giving me attention. And how he can talk! I really could have such conversations for hours. I was content to meet such a man, but William looked like he ate a rotten fruit. His face was all the time changing, once white, another time blue. I was very worried about him. - William, my Shakespeare! Maybe I shall tell Catherine to make a bed for you? - I am fine. Do not need to bother – it is obvious that he lied not to make me feel sad about it. - Have you heard about magnetic method? – philosopher quickly added...

Note No. 15. Romantic Moments, Education and Fire of Moonlight

Dedicated to all of my friends, American family and my future Mr. Loverboy, my fan nr 1. Thank you all for letting me know that you've read my story. Your support means a lot to me. <3 12 th July 1819   Just a moment ago I wrote a poem for my lover and best friend, yes, my husband. Also, just a moment ago I recited it to him. How his eyes shined! Better than stars in the sky! Chest out, proud mask on his face. You! My oxygen! We are sitting in front of house, in the arbour, in the garden. We are hugging, share poetry and love. Even hearts of clouds are made for us. Even that stream is playing sweeter sounds on the harp of water. How woodpeckers hit pines. How nice, how pink this world can be. Even my favourite fan is lighter. I love my fan. I always take it when it is hot. Ribbons of my hat tempt his fingers. William is also telling me stories about yesterday hunting. Not only a bear they caught, also five partridges, three hares, two marmots and two ducks. Not only our ne...

Elizabeth’s Poem - The Romantic Ironist

My pretty box! Light! My glassy heart! Hidden there deep!   Kaleidoscope my eyes! Looking at you nice! It’s like heaven there!   Silky thirsty my lips! Tasty of you meals!* I don’t need much!   No other voice can sing! Pears in throat I bring! Scream only – No! God!     * Other possibility – Silky my lips! Thirsty my hips! Or thirty. Choose what you like.

Note No. 14. Bears, Magic of Water and the Cream of Society

11 th July 1819   My beloved William went hunting with few highlanders. A bear is what they want to find in woods. I feel much better and I am embroidering flowers with Mary next to me. I am telling her multiple stories. Also, my husband promised to bring me water from nearby spring. Inhabitants believe that this water has magical properties. And what is it all for? The answer is simple – my lover boy does not trust morphine. He says I act strange after using it. I feel very well today, but I do not know, maybe he is right?   Maybe that water will be better than anything else? Oh! I hear drums! My blondie is coming home! I will speak out tomorrow. I think I will be able to go out tomorrow.   *In the evening*   William brought me a vessel with that magical liquid.   It looks like a normal water, but we will see how it makes me feel tomorrow. But that is not all! He told me that it is time to invite local companionship. It is time to prepare a lit...

Note No. 13. Nightmares, Books and World Watched From the Bed

10 th July 1819   Nightmares, nightmares and one more time nightmares!! Another night I see nothing but ces bêtises (nonsense things) in my dreams. Such a strange, not fitting these days slaughter at first, and now my Willy fancily cheating on me with three women. What an awful view I cannot forget! Ugh! I honestly do not know what was worse – seeing bloody battlefield or such dirty operas. And that cheeky smile… Shakespeare’s drama, I am telling you. Another day I do nothing but laying in bed, sleeping, embroidering, and reading a book. My dear friend from childhood, also Jane unfortunately, published an interesting book recently. I am fascinated by this finesse, light humour, and this picturing unbelievably realistic. I must write her a congratulatory letter. At first, however, I must get better. I remember our early years and adventures. Three girls, goddesses, each one different nationality – me, Jane, and Juliette. Ah, good times… I will tell you all about it later....

Note No. 12. Bad Weather Outside and Inside

9 th July 1819   Today we were planning to go for another mountain trip. This time we wanted to see one of crystal-clear lake waters. Unfortunately, nothing but strong wind is blowing in ears today. These windy trumpets make my head hurt like hell. This pain makes the view in front of my eyes quite blurry. No way. I am staying in bed today. The first dose of medicine is taken. I hope to feel better soon. What about Mary and William? I have no idea. They must help themselves without my hand today. I do not know what they are doing now. I only hope it will be quiet whole day. I even cannot think. I will write for you tomorrow, my dear diary. Maybe it will be easier to… live tomorrow.

Elizabeth Dreams of Future

Sun shines blue, white and red. Fleur-de-lis blooms on bloody ground. No, nothing will be the same now.   Soldier’s hat’s floating in the river. Bayonet is kissing the ground. No, nothing will be the same now.   Clop of hooves can still be heard. Air is shiny gold, cold and grounded. Now every soul will be haunted.

Note No. 11. Wedding Incidents, Mountain Walks and Painting

8 th July 1819   Good morning, my lovely diary! I slept well last night. I also hope that you are dry enough after last writing. I wish you were clean. I would not see ink everywhere on your pages. I can continue wedding reminisces today! When did we end? Right! Fireworks. That view was unforgettable but unfortunately not every person can glory such positive thoughts to the rest of their lives. Just before the ending of display, tragic accident occurred. One of fireworks hit surrounding cottages. Two of them caught on fire and burnt completely in only few minutes. At least nobody ended their life that night. All of that happened a little because of us, everything was happening in front of our eyes, so it is obvious that me and William decided to help fire victims. We ensured them roof over heads in our palace until new houses stand. That is what we could at least do. After all, we will not take our money to graves but poor and affected people will live better, at le...

Note No. 10. First Day in Mountains, Memory of the Wedding

7 th July 1819   Such pretty views! Une jolie vue! And those villas, manor houses! Those thatch-roof buildings! I cannot take my eyes away! I regret that I cannot show you what I see. Maybe later I will try to draw something on the last page. We must reach the peak tomorrow. A little smaller peak. I think I am scared of heights. In addition, little Mary is with us. Yes, the trip of the year. Tomorrow for sure I will feel inspired for painting. I am sitting in our new acquisition. Manor is fresh, even fragrant. Just like it happens to a bread. Beautiful backyard. I think we may stay here whole summer. My darling made us such an amazing surprise! The name of this place? Does it really matter? It can be “secret garden” and that is all. My idea. Nice, is it not? There is a wedding anniversary today. Exactly four years ago me and William tied up forever. Ceremony was majestic, balls lasted whole week and I had a beautiful dress. I remember those days well, like yesterday. I r...
