Note No. 25. Adventures in the City and Mountains of Love

22nd July 1819

You will not believe who we met yesterday in the city! Yes! Juliette! She had not gotten my letter, but she learned in the capital city where we went so, she decided to follow us.

My dear friend, you are very original!

But that is not all! It was the first time when William’s brother saw her, and she simply has put a spell on him. How he was stuttering! How his eyes were eating her! Unbelievable!

Then we all went to the church. Every word I heard reached my soul, like a different world. Word of the Lord cut right through me like a sword. I felt like truth was shown to my eyes only.

We all should love our brothers and sisters! Servants too! They are all people!! They deserve to be treated like people! We should not do to others, what seems to be ugly to us!

And obviously we all should take care of… trees. When they die, we die too. When they are ragged, our souls will be too.

What is the most interesting…? Not everybody felt what I felt unfortunately. In the corner of my eye I could see how William’s brother was watching every Juliette’s move, while she was busy around her white hands and well-kept nails. William was making funny stares and Mary was trying hard not to laugh.

Hands down! I am losing my faith in mankind!

Then we came back to our carriage. Somehow everybody found their places and we headed straight to mountains for a walk. Catherine was waiting with snacks and drinks in the glade. I am glad that I took this girl with us. Truly no other servant is needed. The rest can protect our palace from bad adventure while we are absent. I guess we will spend another month here. And Catherine is absolutely the best and the most faithful. I hope she meets a good man soon so we could prepare a huge wedding for her, like royal!

We have spent a wonderful time on mountains walks, small talks, light sweet-fruity dish and then I send Catherine in the carriage back home. She would not be necessary here and there at house she could prepare a dinner. However, she did not go alone – with our daughter. A little Mary could keep her company, watch, and learn to appreciate work. They also took my little kitty. Mary is so happy to have her around! Catherine also likes to look after her. By God! Obviously, I did not take her to the church! This pleasure I left for our servant. I know she really likes this kind of duty. It is more like a prize.

That is how it was yesterday. What happened next? I will tell you tomorrow! Today I want to rest and meet our guests in the living room. It is not proper to sit alone in my rooms when the manor house is full!
