Note No. 40. Crowns and Bright Sons

19th August 1819

Today note I am starting with a story of my brother. How such a poor aristocrat could deserve a crown of such a noble country? Chose très simple (a really simple thing) – for service – just like John Sobieski once before, about whom my mother used to like to talk. He represented an ideal man and lover in her eyes. He was her Apollo of dreams… But it does not matter anyway… What matters? My comparison looks good… Well, my brother is like him. Maybe that is because of the way he was raised, because she had a huge impact on it… I am getting off the track again… My brother is mainly a soldier, warrior. This is it. His political-military service has given him a crown.

I really cannot write today… I am not feeling… well… I will be back soon…

*In the evening*

And everything became lumineux comme soleil (bright like a sun… or son). Doctor has just drove away from our manor house… So, you are really among us, my dear William Anthony! Oh! I can see it! One day you will be a perfect king. Imaginary – Parisian, if not an official. You will be a pride of mother and the closest confidant after your father. My dear little treasure! How good to know you are here!
